   Performance has been obliterated in more recent batches. It used to be really potent and long-lasting, but nowadays it requires a few sprays on clothing to give it all-day longevity. In my experience at least, it opens bold, but after ~2 hours dials back by a lot and feels pretty much over by the 5 hour mark.

      Awww that's a huge bummer. The sample I have is fantastic, but may be from an old batch. Any recommended alternatives that I should be on the lookout for?

      I felt similarly to you when I first tried it - bought an actual Memo sample which must've been sitting around for ages, and was immediately blown away. Ordered a 5ml decant and was wondering what on earth happened to the longevity, albeit the smell was the same. I then reached out to a seller who told me his bottle is old, bought a 1ml decant (just in case he was bullshitting), compared it side by side with my 5ml, and the difference was night and day, quite literally. The new stuff very faint by noon, the old stuff still present around me by evening. I wouldn't say these two are particularly close, but they share a vibe, and you may have already tried them: 02 L'Air du Desert Marocain and Ivory Route - closer than the Tauer, but still not quite as gorgeous as African Leather to my nose.
