That been said, I can only say that this is not what I was expecting when I saw the word "absolu". The 3 thinga I really love about Bal d'Afrique's original DNA are Marigold, vetiver and cedarwood, I feel like all 3 of those things are dancing around in an amazingly well done blend that makes bal dafrique so different. So when I heard there was going to be an "absolu" flanker I thought well the might power up one of those things, the marigold and violet combo, or the cedarwood and vetiver combo. Which are super characteristic of it.
But it was not, we instead got a sweetened version of the original, don't get me wrong, it still has that backbone that the original has, but I just felt mislead by the name.
Overall I feel like this is simply the more "feminine" version of Bal d'Afrique, which is nice, because some people might prefer sweeter stuff but I feel like what I love about the OG is that it's so versatile, quiet luxury kind of vibe and perfectly unisex.
That being said, the Absolu misses the original's purpose IMO by making it sweeter so it's less versatile, louder so it's less of a "quiet luxury" vibe and more feminine so it's not so unisex anymore.
I gotta say tho that if I smell this on a woman I might go nuts, and that it is a great performer on the longevity and projection, which are 2 things that people usually didn't like about the OG.
I'd give this a 9/10. Amazing perfume.
