Simple Unique Daring Man Elegance

Egoiste vintage from 1990 is one of the most unique woody floral ambers ever created. It opens with a very elegant burst of Mandarin and Coriander, masterfully accompanied by a light sweet damask rose and carnation. Carnation was used in the past in feminine scents because it gives a sweet trail to the composition, but here it's used very carefully alongside this glorious Rose. The entire pyramid is constructed like beautiful architecture with different roots; it's classic Chanel and even more classic Polge's mastermind architecture. At first, you can't pinpoint the top notes from the mid, but after just 30 minutes, you can identify the Cinnamon connecting with the sandalwood and the sweetness of the Vanilla. I love this middle part; it radiates so beautifully, letting the flowers shine in a very natural, airy, and watery way. I can now finally understand why it was so daring to release something like this in the 90s. This is clearly a scent created with a deep discovery of how to mix Female sweet flowers with wood and cinnamon in a way that was unthinkable for a men's composition at the time.

Without a doubt, if I had to represent the actual color of the scent, it would give me a light pink color in my mind. It's a hue of pink that slowly goes into peach, and then fades into a solid peach sort of color, a bit like taking the carnation flower and making a shirt for a man out of that color without being too bold. It has an elegance that is very hard to describe in words; it's extremely sexy, but at the same time, it's functional and minimal. It's one of those compositions that is "transparent," and from afar, it seems to have very simple lines, but this simple yet amazing scent is created after tweaking many, many times to reach that final color in the palette. In the air is magical, i am not joking, It's extremely difficult to make something feel so effortless and simple, yet use so many contrasted elements this well. I am shocked this was done in the 1990s; I can imagine this turning any female head when passing trough.

I was just 3 when this came out, and I can't even grasp how cool it probably was to find this for a reasonable price on the shelves. I wish in my heart my dad had the chance to wear it; this is a scent that a man with a strong character can pull off dressed however he wanted. It works with a black polo as much as a white shirt. Scents like this make you understand how much this market is saturated with unnecessary and expensive stuff that long ago was sold as a humble scent in malls. I paid big money for this Vintage bottle, but id rather spend money on something of this stature than some modern stuff that are a joke compared to this. I wish i was there at a mature age to enjoy this, but the fact that i reached the point of owning it, i will enjoy it fully as someone that understand the importance of a work of this stature. Polge is a master, and his son clearly followed his steps keeping the legacy alive. Chapeau.
