Friday Sniffari

Went on a little excursion after work today. I've been wanting to smell a bunch of new releases and other things my Sephora/Ulta don't have in store so I went to the big one near my new job site.

Quick impressions -

1. Commodity Juice + Expressive - I've been looking for a good raspberry scent. This is a pretty nice, slightly soapy raspberry. The fruit is nice and tart in this one, especially in the opening, though rather artificial. It dries down a bit sweeter. Wouldn't buy though.

2. Miu Miu Miutine Intense - Really loved this on paper and on skin for the first 15 minutes or so when it's a really fresh, juicy berry (that isn't as tart or synthetic as Juice), but then it dries down into something very similar to Juice - generic sweet fruit. Pass, though it is pretty.

3. Prada Paradoxe Sweet Chemistry - Actually not bad if you like super sweet, candy like fruity scents. It smells like a Japanese grape gummy candy. Not for me but it's fun... and quite strong.

4. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu - a huge disappointment. They took Coco Mademoiselle and absolu-tely neutered it (ha). Smells like an air freshener and doesn't even have the signature Chanel DNA. Not a fan on paper or skin. Pity because I love Coco Mademoiselle (I have both the EDT and EDP). Stick to the original for this one.

5. Valentino Vendetta Donna - disappointed with this one as well. I love tuberose but this was a very tame one with lots of sweet fruit. It smelled extremely generic and boring, although pleasant. Did not make it to the skin test. I will have to try some other time when I have skin space.

Overall not super impressed with anything I sampled, though I did also do my usual spray of Tobacco Vanille and Angels Share Paradis. I've been hoarding gift cards and waiting for the big yearly sale... Two amazing scents I need in my collection that I've been waiting to pull the trigger on... But maybe soon 😉 🙏
