An epic fail perfume day. I’m late. Firstly, I had to leave home in a hurry this morning to get to my mum’s, because she was unwell. Leaving the house without perfume is practically like going out completely naked, am I right?

So, I finally get home after running around to doctors then hospital (everything is fine) .. and I decide to reach for Corail Oscuro. Why? Because I had a sneaky sniff of this a few weeks ago and I really liked it, and it’s a lovely sunny day. But today? ..on my skin? It made me physically sick. Actually physically sick. Yeah, it’s so much more savoury than I first noticed. There’s the lovely rose and orange I got on paper, but now it’s accompanied with a green pepper and leek salsa served with a side of stagnant marine water.. I’m not the biggest fan of marine scents but I’m also allergic to green peppers, hence the drama llama involuntary emisis event.

The other half isn’t smelling what I’m smelling. He’s getting a ‘salty rose’ but not the green pepper. So I’m blaming the sympep synthetic? It’s apparently similar to synthetic guaiac wood, which reads unfortunately to me as Tayto Smokey Bacon crisps. Noses are weird. Today my nose has forsaken me again. It has been scrubbed!

In other news… sample of Diptyque’s Corail Oscuro free to a good home 😩🤣

    That’s why I always carry a cheap bottle in my car. For emergency sprays. Hope your mom feels better!

      I have travel decants of all my FBs so they can come with me. I think I was just so discombobulated with my mums panicked called that she was having a heart attack (dear reader, she was in fact, not having a heart attack 🤦🏼‍♀️)

      It has been scrubbed. I’m recovering with Carner’s Super Moon. Thank goodness I always start sampling with one spray in the back of my hand for a safety check lol

    Honestly I’ve also kinda moved on from marine scents. Some I love, but when they overboard on that sea salt accord it’s nauseating

    Oh nooo, I hope your mom is calmer and doing well now 🥺 also, it could also be that you were stressed and not in a good mood at the moment of everything that happened, I was surveying that yesterday and how we feel also affects how we perceive aroma 😵‍💫 either good or bad, and unfortunately it turned out in bad pepper

      Thank you, Mum is grand. I think it’s an automatic response? Growing up, bell peppers were not something my parents cooked with. I remember being in my friends house and the smell of green peppers cooking would make me feel sick. Then as a teen, I ate one that was in a salad and ended up in hospital. So my brains scent recognition response was ‘Nope!’ lol.

      I hate yucking peoples yums, and I loved this on paper. But I think my brain read ‘green pepper’ and noped it.

    Glad your mum is doing better now 🫶🏼 I haven’t tried this one yet, but I tend to get a similar perception of guaiac wood, unfortunately (pending on the notes combination, but still). Hoping tomorrow is a much better day!

    So sorry you had such a day! Hope all is well across the board! You may want to give the scent another try. Since it was such a hectic day things were not as they normally are. If you still dont like it after a second try then you can find a good home for it (right over here 😁). Hope tomorrow is a better day!

      Agreed! NdB smells like the time my friend in grade 5 forgot a container of green peppers at the bottom of her backpack for like a month and then opened it in front of me 🤢 I’ll never forget that overwhelming stench of green pepper and mold

    Oh no! I feel you friend. I had food poisoning on Thursday and my stomach has been rough since. It's hard to go out the house without a scent now and even harder when the scent makes you nauseous.
