Favorite things at 15: Poison and Flowers in the Attic

In retrospect, this seemed a bit too sophisticated for my fifteen-year-old tastes, but I am fairly certain the first perfume I owned was Dior Poison. Maybe I don’t mean "sophisticated", I’m not sure that’s an accurate word for this fragrance. And I don’t want to say it was too mature for me either, because I think that gives the wrong impression of both the perfume and of me. Let’s just say that on one hand, I think I was too young for it, but on the other, I loved it, so maybe none of that matters. I know it’s been reformulated but I just bought a bottle for nostalgia’s sake and I can’t really tell...at first. This version never again never smells as amazing as it does in moments of that first spritz: a witchly mystical concoction of venomous anisette, crushed plums and dark berries, orange blossoms and jasmine flowers plucked at midnight and stewed in honey and imbued with your hearts most hidden desires under the light of a full moon
