Layering fragrances you’re not into?

Still riding the Struggle Bus™️ when it comes to identifying notes, but I’m loving the various chapters in the fragrance lessons, and I’ve been fairly successfully at pinpointing notes I strongly dislike. I find this to be just as useful as identifying notes I *do* like. I hate that I’ve wasted money on samples that I have no desire or ever wear (or, worse, find repulsive 🥴), but there are only so many niche fragrances I have access to in person.

I’m very new to the concept of layering fragrances, but I do think that it could be a way to use up samples in that “meh” or “can’t see myself ever wearing this” category.

Anyone been successful at laying in that way?

    I’m not really a layering person, but I do dabble if it’s to use up samples/decants.

    To me, getting into fragrance is like learning a new language. When you’re relatively new, it can be difficult to find the vocabulary to describe what you’re experiencing. About 16 years ago, when I first became interested in fragrance, I would go to Bloomingdale’s and try a ton of stuff just to see what I liked and what I didn’t. That saved me a lot of money, haha.

    I have been know to layer , fragrances I love and especially ones I don’t care for. I don’t like Nest Indigo but layered with Yara it makes it wearable.

    I definitely layer to use up samples I don’t like! Worst case I don’t like the layering combo, and I’m no worse off than if I’d worn it alone
