I love the little bottle...!

...but that's about it, sadly! 😪 I wanted so very much to love this but I'm finding myself trying too hard to connect with it and ultimately if I'm honest I'm not finding it pleasant to wear. The immediate opening is OK but something as it dries down does not agree with me. As people have said it is ozonic and salty solar in the opening, but for me, that ozone comes through in a way that feels like when there's a storm coming and it makes you feel a bit 'pushed down' or like something is squeezing inside your head a little, which I don't enjoy and it affects my mood. The vanilla is there somewhere under the iris, neroli and orange blossom, but there's a dusty quality that's like when you used to get close to the old CRT TVs when you were young and get the crackly static taste (again, I'm guessing this is the ozonic element? It's quite clever really, just not something I want to smell on my own skin). Mixed with the musk and ambroxan it just sits a bit to the left of pleasant.

I like uplifting or comforting or calming or happy, joyous fragrances, and this gets interpreted by my brain as depressing or heavy. And maybe that's what I should expect from the Blue hour?

I certainly respect that Guerlain have made a reintepretation of the blue hour by a different perfumer from the original (actually I feel like that premise could be a really awesome line - 5 Master noses all make their version of a benchmark based on it's name/ original story! Guerlain: think about it and get in touch!) And also respect that they didn't turn this into a mass pleasing, sweet and vanilla and gourmand flanker. .. but I would have loved a 2026 play on the original. Something that could have brought new generation nostrils into that magic.

Anyway, it's a stunning bottle, and i just got the 30ml so no harm no foul - I'll try layering it to see what might work...
