      For me, it’s more tied to personal experience than universal emotion(?), but it’s dark, crisp, mid autumn or very early spring - creating art, foraging (mushrooms, white pine, etc), cleaning found bones, harvesting mountain mint and hanging it to dry to put in pouches for friends… It’s ritualistic and creative while collaborative with friends and the natural world.

      Thank you for sharing that with me🤗 It sounds so perfect. I love when a scent evokes a mood, you can close your eyes and feel the emotions, the temperature, the clothes you’re wearing, the scent of the air associated with the memories. I’m also jealous of mountain mint, it doesn’t grow here and now I want to smell it

      Mountain mint was native where I used to live in Pennsylvania and pollinators LOVE it. I planted just 3 sprigs in my backyard and it took to all of my flower beds (which I was more than happy about). Every autumn, I used to cut it all down and hang it to dry, then pull all the leaves and buds from the stems and fill little burlap bags for friends and family. I used to keep a lot of it for myself, as well because one of those bags would fill a room, but I’d also make tea with it. Compared to other mints, it’s much earthier and grounded. Its color is like a desaturated green leaning brown and it’s not as sharp, it’s a bit more round. I hope it took over the neighborhood after I left, haha. My garden grew FAST with all those pollinators around.
