But so much more than that. Fiery ginger, sharp greenery, and thick citrus give way to berried juiciness, soft rose, and benzoin-soaked woods. This is less basic cupcake, more ambered jewel cloaked in molten indulgence. I toss and turn at night trying to decide whether Ani or Angélique Noire wears the vanilla crown, but the rich depth of Ani may just give her the lead.

      So much better than the standard cylindrical travel size! I have a Bon Parfumer extract in 15ml and a couple of Miller Harris in 14ml.

      Hacivat is one hell of a dominant scent. I appreciated its heft, but the strength of that oakmoss base was not for me. Along with Ani I'd recommend... B-612: in my opinion the best fougere ever - the classic components of lavender, oakmoss and coumarin are all there but the additions of sandalwood and cashmeran make it an entirely unique experience. Fan Your Flames: a dark, sexy, smoked-out coconut with some sweet boozy touches. Ambra Calabria: rich, orangey citrus that smells very 'Italian countryside' and then it completely changes into a classic amber, but done with such exceptional elegance - not powdery but rich and smooth. Hundred Silent Ways, Papilefiko, Tero and then Nefs and Mana (the pricey boys from the Prestige Collection) are all phenomenal too. Gosh, there's a lot.

    Ani is stunning! I’ve always been so confused with reviews that refer to this as ‘vanilla cupcake’, I’ve always thought of it as a ginger fruity floral forward on a vanilla base. It’s beautiful 😍

    Such a beautiful vanilla, with so much complexity!! Been trying to decide between this and Ani X for quite a while. Cécile Zarokian is a true genius!

      They're both stunning. Ani feels entirely unisex to me, whereas X feels ever so slightly more feminine-leaning - perhaps that melony effect up top? I found they landed in a very similar place but X didn't last quite so long on my skin.
