I'm stoked to review a very hyped fragrance in Outlands. I swung by their NYC store and they gave me a sample of this.
Opening is ambery, aromatic. Airy, dense but not overwhelming. Very typical of Amouage. You definitely get a bit of a citrus hit in the opening but quickly it cools down into the amouage dry downs we know. The sichuan pepper in the opening kind of sucks to be honest but it's really only detectable if you dig in to the frag on skin.
I do also get bits of patchouli and rose in the mid, and then a slight (so slight) hit of oud. But more than anything is the ambery resinous quality that this fragrance is loved for. It's not sweet, but it's got this touch of vanillic warmth to it.
This is no doubt a HIGHLY complex fragrance, not suitable for any blind buy. The usual case with amouage is good performance and this will do it for you.
I think this is a great spring fall winter fragrance. Too much for the summer. This is one of my favorites from Amouage, a house I've typically struggled with in the past.
