There is no mistaking Overture Man for a unisex scent - it's one of the boldest statements of masculinity I've ever smelt. Rather than simply relaying the notes, which would not only be exhaustive but, more importantly, wouldn't give an accurate impression of the fragrance, I'd rather let you into my imagination, so you can paint your own picture.
Imagine a desert-dwelling spice merchant standing in the middle of a lively bazaar. His shirt is soaked with the sweat of his labors as he peels a grapefruit and sips a glass of cognac. The dusty breeze dries his sweat, though not that of his camel. As he mounts his steed, the desert wind carries wafts of grassy shrubs and subtle florals, brightening the resinous smoke that drifts by from his fellow nomads' merchandise. By the time he returns home, his musk has faded, replaced with the richly spiced woods, leathers, and incense that fill his dwelling. He reclines as the scent of his camel drifts in from outside, a final warm, animalic reminder that, for all its hardships, he wouldn't trade this life for another.
In a nutshell, Overture Man is an absolutely jaw-dropping fragrance. The cumin-cognac opening can only be described as rugged, but it soon gives way to an entirely unique regality. While not an easy wear, especially living somewhere subtropical, it's one I never want to be without. Top 3 Amouage.
Projection and sillage are more like 4½⭐️ for me - I reserve full marks for those genuinely nuclear scents that seemingly never calm down. Overture Man is big, bold and lasts for over 12 hours, but around halfway through reveals a softer side that speaks in whispers - albeit still loud enough to hear.
