I can't speak for Platinum Égoïste's power to attract the opposite sex in the early-90s, but even today it remains the kind of clean and inoffensive masculine scent that nobody's going to wrinkle their nose at.

Despite the long list of notes, what you really get is a deodorant-fresh, male locker-room scent with a subtle metallic edge. It's somewhat herbal, somewhat mossy and instantly familiar - the kind of profile that makes you think, "that's a clean, professional man right there".

These kinds of fragrances aren't my usual style, but credit where it's due: they make you feel effortlessly well put-together, and they're far easier to wear than stronger, sweeter, more distinctive perfumes. Égoïste Platinum is one of the best in its category.
