Malty and hopsy dark honey ale.

Not what I was expecting, granted I hadn’t looked at the notes. I had picked it looking a bedtime cozy vanilla to sample.

This isn’t something I would wear, yet I’m really enjoying whiffing this. Interesting and complex. Im not sure if the perfumer was going for a malty honey ale profile, but that’s what I’m getting. The bran and immortelle and raw honey are very prominent in the opening. But it’s a really well blended perfume, difficult to pinpoint individual notes. You’ve to wait until the dry down before you can notice a hint of boozy raw vanilla that’s quietly in the background and the tobacco and woods come through a bit more here.

It remains sweet for a quite a while but not the vanilla sweet my nose was anticipating. It’s earthy, masculine sweet that’s a little spicy and sweaty. Lovely whiffs of saffron and pine come and go. It’s strong. I only put one spray on the back of my hand (which is how I start any ‘first spray’ sampling). The next morning it’s still present. It’s lost its sweetness but it’s still a malty honey ale profile on my skin with the notes of hay, bran and wet tobacco leaves remaining.

The other half was not a fan, but I found the interesting accord kept my nose and brain busy for hours whiffing this and trying to make sense of it. Going to pop this away and try it again in autumn/winter. I’m giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because, whilst it’s not something I would wear, it’s interesting and well made.
