Amouage Interlude Black Iris is dark, smoky and commanding, but there’s something incredibly smooth underneath all that intensity. It opens with this almost mysterious cloud of incense and spice deep, resinous and slightly cool before settling into warm woods, amber and a soft, velvety darkness. To me, smelling it feels like walking into a dimly lit room where incense has been burning for hours. The air is thick with smoke and resins, everything is shadowed, and there’s just a hint of something floral cutting through the darkness. It’s powerful without being loud, elegant without being polished, and a little intimidating in the best possible way. It smells like something a person doesn’t simply wear it becomes part of their presence.
