On a day when I have various odd jobs that need taking care of, I wanted something that starts fresh, becomes woody, and finishes sexy. What better than 40 Knots?

To me, this begins as a green, incensey sea breeze, develops into a warmly spiced, salty cedar decking, and finishes as a musky-sweet marine amber.

It stays quite close to my skin for the first 1-2 hours, but once it warms up and the woodiness emerges, it starts radiating beautifully. On some days, it goes candy-sweet; on others, the musky, “whale-hide” animalic side pops out. Either way, it’s always a salty, woody, ambery experience, grounded by freshness despite all its richness.

    I've only had the chance to try this on skin once, but I absolutely loved it! It seemed like it could really work well in all seasons from that one experience, but in owning it, do you find it to be more of a warm weather reach?

      I find it super versatile, but probably prefer it in warmer air. It stays quite 'salty' for me, despite how sweet and rich it becomes, which makes it seem more summery than wintery. I took a decant back to the UK last Christmas and it still smelt gorgeous, but I find boxing scents into certain categories (even if totally subjective) makes it easier choosing the sotd. I just really fancied it today and sprayed it on before any indecision took hold.
