Brown Girl Jane - Carousel

Carousel is a super fun and unique perfume. I don't think I've smelled anything like this. It has the same vanilla, sandalwood and fluffy musk base as its sisters from the brand, plus prominent burnt sugar and fresh apple - I am impressed with how realistic they both smell. Regarding the other notes, blackcurrant is present, but for me, I mostly get the cherry, as well as leather in the background. As for the florals, I can really only smell the lily of the valley, which adds some freshness. I think the others get lost in the mix. Oddly enough, I also get a (personal) scent association with freshly blanched spinach. It has a sweet, vegetal quality.

It sounds like such a weird blend of notes... But I like it...? I'm pleasantly confused! This one is certainly more on the sugary sweet side, though it is still light enough to be wearable in warm weather (if you take close care to limit the number of sprays). The projection is pretty strong - I think this would get cloying in very hot weather and could easily be over sprayed. Probably best for a warm night or cooler weather.

It's definitely a bit of a sexier, date/evening out type perfume. I tend to get a lot of compliments from men while wearing BGJ perfumes, and I think this one especially could be a potential secret weapon 🤔 The longevity is good - projects strongly for 3-4 hours, then stays on my skin for a good 8-10 hours total.

While I feel like this is not as easily likeable as its sisters in the discovery set (though not challenging by any means), I find that it is unique, fun, and interesting - it made my brain spin a little harder, so it gets an 8/10 from me.
