Your particular stage of life scent

So I’ve been doing the Academy section on this app and learned that certain scents can become strongly associated with a particular event, person, or stage of your life.

I remember my first proper designer/brand perfume was Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia, which I got when I was in college. I wore it pretty much every day, all the way until my second year of my PhD.

Now, a few years later, I can’t really bring myself to wear it anymore. Instead, I occasionally smell it just for the nostalgia. It’s funny how a scent can transport you back to a completely different version of yourself.

So I was wondering - what was everyone’s go-to perfume in college? And would you still wear it today, or do you prefer to smell it purely for the nostalgia?

    My signature scent in college (before I was into perfume) was daisy dream which I now find nasty. My taste has changed a lot. (But my very old bottle may have turned I’m not sure)

    I think we just move on sometimes and our noses change, plus we find scents we really learn we like.... But sometimes smelly that basic or older smelling perfume just feels nostalgic for a little while, maybe not a full day out but an at home wear kind of day

    El sireno kept reminding me of something, then notes related to lauder private collection, a fav of my mom. When I had surgery took it along, like a comforting hug. This was April. Notes immediately can do dejavu

    I didn't really have one in college. Undergrad/grad was for archaeology, so I wasn't really wearing much perfume outside digging in the ground all day. In HS I wore Cool Water and Clinique Happy exclusively. I've been really tempted to pick up some Cool Water. In my early 20s before I went to college I only wore Obsession and I've also been tempted to try that again. Both are still quite popular, though not necessarily ones I might gravitate towards now in my mid 40s

    My scent during undergrad was D&G light blue... and since recently collecting as a hobby I've been itching to get my hands on a bottle! I haven't smelled it for a while but i miss having a go-to light fresh clean scent.

      Can relate with wanting to buy the bottle again 😭 however, new fragnances are also so tempting 😭

      SAME. I have so many on my list to buy and it's so hard to decide if i want something new or the old staple! I'll probably wait until i can find light blue discounted somewhere
