Price-points: How much $/mL; USD/mL; currency/mL is the average of your collection vs. what do you WANT to pay?

I typically seek to pay $3/mL and feel great when it’s under and meh when it’s over. Since I collect “museum pieces”, I have a different perspective on value/pricing/worth.

What I discovered with MATH is that my average USD/mL is about $3.48/mL for my top 10 fragrances— revealed in linked video up now!

      I definitely have bottles that are $6.50/ml or more (CAD, mind you). But, almost all of my bottles are grey market.

    I’m cheap. I’ve never done this math, but it’s rare that I spend more than $100. I love a good gray market retailer, which is where I get my more expensive fragrances. But, you’ll likely never see me with super expensive bottles.

      I think most people are with you on that one— grey market, decants, a rare if any luxury purchase. So around $2/mL is your max or average?

    This is when being a frugalista/frugalisto comes into play. I would first try the gray market or from a list of verified resellers or decanters (i know of a few from FB Groups and there are also some on Reddit)(but tread carefully). I'll also use eBay or Mercari, but not for popular stuff like LL, TF, PDM, B9, MFK, etc because there are too many fakes. If I'm paying around MSRP, I'm checking places where I know they have sales, coupon codes, point earning systems for cashback or discount codes.

      100% agree. I’m willing to pay a high price only from retailers and sellers where I really need to make sure it’s THE JUICE. But most of my stuff is vintage and therefore extremely expensive or dirt cheap.

      It's good to think about and point out costs, but also keep in mind usage. Your 100ml bottles of Angel & Flankers make sense for you because you love it and wear it a lot; travel sizes make more sense even at a higher cost if you won't use or sell everything in the bottle. I really think it's important to calculate cost like you did when you get into dupes as a cost-saving measure (spoiler: they're not always much better).

    While I haven’t done the math of my most-worn, I start balking/budgeting/sweating when I fall in love with something around the $6(USD)/ml mark or higher. But I feel like I do a pretty good job at bargain-hunting, swapping, and/or patiently waiting for a good deal or opportunity to stack discounts, and selling off what I’m not wearing because I truly don’t want my bottle collection to be TOO large/unmanageable. Howeverrr, I do a TERRIBLE job at actually budgeting/showing restraint on purchasing travels or decants, which are arguably THE WORST bang for your buck/price-per-ml 🤷‍♀️ Ohwellllll

      I know I am resistant to decants because of the PPML which is very annoying because I end up trying fewer scents but am generally never unhappy with my purchases luckily

    I think my average is right around the same as yours (3.8-4USD/ml), the problem is sometimes I buy things retail for personalization (this is big for me tbh, I want that engraved bottle/personalized bottle 😭), so I rarely buy grey market. Also, a lot of the fragrances I buy are not available on the grey market (L’art line for example), so I pay full price or wait on a discount from Neiman/Saks, etc. Anyway, I’m happy to pay this, fragrances and travel are my hobbies and I’m very grateful that I’m able to enjoy both

      Same in that the grey market doesn’t carry my desired products :( and the decants of my desired are way too expensive ($40 per 2mL??????)

      Yeah, I’m usually very discouraged to get samples/decants because I live in Honduras, so I have to also pay extra shipping for here (which is not usually another $15+), and it takes 2 weeks, so it’s a whole ordeal. I wait to travel to test things, or just whatever I get for free from LuckyScent/Scent Split, etc., so there are rarely many testers/decants in my collection. Even rn I went on a no buy since mid September till probably December/next year, and that includes samples as well

      Yea I usually spend about 1/3rd of my income a month on fragrance I’ve come to realize and I am living in acceptance because it’s basically all I spend money on now aside from rent and food. Savings!!??? That’s for….35!
