Realistically, with the regular amounts of sprays you do, how many years would it take you to actually get to finish your fragrance collection? I would calculate myself on five years as my own collect is not the biggest and I usually spray like 4/5 times once a day. Hbu?

I've thought about this fairly often, especially when I'm really getting an itch to buy something. I have just over three dozen bottles ranging from 15-100ml. The majority of them are 30-75ml. I figure it would probably take me 12 years at a minimum, but realistically closer to sixteen (or possibly longer)if they were all full (most of them have appreciable dents). That's just math based on average sprays; some very light scents I use 6-8, and I have some heavier scents that I use 2 for. This year, I've put an absolute restriction on 100ml bottles. I won't be buying any volume over 75ml unless I have less than 20 fragrances of hand.

The only time I buy 100 ml is if it only comes in that size and I have to LOVE it to do that. I think the last time that happened was already a few months ago. Smaller the better for a FB.

That's a good philosophy! I can't give myself any wiggle room or I'll abuse it, even if the only size released is 100ml. If I really love it, chances are that I can find a decant from DecantX or a seller on fragswap with a partial. Failing that, I guess I'll have to wait until I use enough or I'll need to cull my collection further (I cut it nearly in half at the beginning of the year) by gifting or donating a few bottles that I just don't use or have fallen out of love with.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately as well 🤔 16 years is crazy! The itch to buy something is diabolical, mine always days 100 ml are the most worthy but at the same time, an 100 ml bottle can last forever, THE DILEMMA 😭

I'd guess 21.4 years. Roughly 2,500 bottles of fragrance, divided by 2 since I share everything with my wife. Multiply by 100mls. Multiply by I'd guess .75 to account for smaller bottles. Divide by 12, because I'm saying that many sprays per ml and that's roughly how many sprays I use a day. Divide by 365 days. So 21.4 years. And that's assuming we will never buy anything else and we know that isn't going to happen.

I'll be dead before it's used up LOL. I'm working on decluttering. There's easily about 75 bottles I don't wear or don't enjoy anymore. There's a ridiculous amount of minis but I don't count them as wearables, they are more just for collecting. That still leaves nearly 200 more that I genuinely love (or at least like a lot). It's not like I'm stopping buying. I'm in my late 60s so the math isn't mathing for me using it up. I joke my nieces will have to fight each other for the best of it when I'm gone or there's going to be a heck of an estate sale 😋

Lol 😄 I don't have too much trouble trying to pick. I do monthly trays of those that are appropriate to the season. Not that I won't deviate now and then. I'm trying to not buy samples because that's what leads me to buy more bottles! Shopping off my wishlist currently which is surprisingly small.

Admittedly I have a lot. At least 300 if not more. Sonit will take decades for me to get through everything. However, I do sell, gift or donate what I don't love. I also sell or trade decants (with friends). I have always enjoyed perfume but just recently (within the last year) started to look into how scents work with my skin & nose. It has been a learning experience! With that said, if anyone is up for decant trades let me know!

I’ve got a total of 159 scents this includes body mists, full 3.4 oz bottles, 2oz bottles, 1 oz bottles and travel size. I currently use body mist so don’t love as body and blanket refresher to try to get these numbers down. Lol. I have to use up 4 before I can bring a new one in. So I don’t even wanna do the math of how long it will take me to use them all up! 😆 but started 2 months when I logged my collection at over 220 so I’ve sold, gifted and used quite a few. At this point I can only bring in 1 oz bottles if and only if I’ve done decants and I have to go from small decant to bigger decant ( 5 or 10) and have to use that up and still love it and think about it, in order to purchase a full bottle.

I’ve got a slightly different approach to thinking about my collection. To me, it’s more scent or perfume library. I’ve been at this for a long time (30 years) and my “collection” has ebbed and flowed from 3-5 bottles to, well…a lot of bottles. 🙃 I can’t imagine I will ever stop outright because it’s a lifelong passion for me. I can say, that I’m much more discerning now than I was in my younger days so pick ups have slowed.

I keep most samples for the “library”. If a perfume offers a better example of something I already own, I will make a 10ml decant of the other and then give it to my daughters or their friends. I keep the 10ml for the “library”. Because of space, I *try* to be more selective with full bottle purchases. I have an armoire and the collection won’t spill out from it (as a rule). Deal breakers are due to scent preferences.

I only have 21 bottles that are 30mL or more, but I’m a chronic undersprayer. I am also constantly neglecting my collection in favour of my 300+ samples, decants, and travel sizes. So realistically I’ll probably never finish all of my full bottles 😅

Okay… so I just went and counted in my library (which I’ve never done lol) 66 FBs, 78 travels (or large decants).. I think I have around 60 minis.. then samples.. eep.. over 300, probably close to 400. The short answer is too much🙈🙈 There are a few more FBs I would like but only because travels aren’t available. There are a few FBs I know I won’t replace if I ever get to the bottom of them.

While my collection isn't big (~12 FB, 10 travel sprays, and about 50 samples), I only pick one scent a day usually and I spritz 2-5 sprays...so I'd have my collection forever 😅

I have way too many bottles and samples... Calculating if I use around 10 sprays a day between work, testing, and bedtime, that's over 16 years worth of perfume! And I'm still getting more! 😅
