How did you started?

I'm real curious on this one. Wether a person, a time of your life or simply curiosity, What led you to collect perfumes? O my case, my mom and grandma always had beautiful perfumes on their shelves and many fond memories are tied to scents they wore. Growing up I always had a fascination on how people expressed through fragrances (for me roses were the ideal to smell like and actually achieved it by buying rose perfumes on my middle school budget) and finally I became a collector myself and got into the community just last year. Gladly I can say I found a great community I'm thankful to be part of! ☺️ *Pic to draw some attention*

    For me i was looking for a new cologne. After using up the third bottle of original Polo. I was just starting to date again and wanted something different from what everyone else was wearing. I ordered several different decants and Xerjoff Deified and Naxos were two of the along with Initio Side Effect and PDM Layton Exclusif. When I smelled them they blew me away. That started me down the rabbit hole.

    I found my love for fragrances later in life, only a few years ago! No one in my family ever wore perfumes, and my mother is very sensitive to smells. I had a few Victoria’s Secret body sprays in high school and university, but I didn’t put much thought into what I wore. I can’t remember what they were called or what they smelled like 😅 I started getting more into it when I stumbled onto fragrance tiktok in 2023 and realized there was so much more to the world of perfume than I ever realized!

    My mom and my sister both liked perfumes and had such different tastes that I got curious. I would spray their perfumes on me until I got my first bottle of Cool Water for Women and later Green Tea as my first fragrances

      Probably Calvin Klein Euphoria Bloom. One of my first perfume I bought with my paychecks. I remember going back and forth trying to decide and really kept coming back to it. And found out my boyfriend (now hubby) really loved the scent when I wore it on a date. Really sad it was discontinued as it smelled gorgeous on me

    Awsome story! Mine started in my early teens with versace blue jeans for christmas and my uncle always smelling of tom ford oud wood. I got in to niche perfumes 2 years ago and try keep a limited of 1 new perfume every 6-8 weeks to keep the addiction under control 😂

      So true! The way it becomes an addiction makes my wallet sweat bullets every time I enter this app lol 😭 Which were your first purchases already into this world?

      Ive started buying decants before full bottle purchases which has saved me buying things for the sake of it + you get your little dopamine fix of having a new scent 😂 my 1st purchase was blue de chanel edp in like 2013 and my first niche was Xerjoff Naxos. What was yours ?

      It's not ENTIRELY gone. It's just incredibly weak. And, oddly, it seems I can smell bad smells more easily than good smells...same goes for taste.

      Tell us more! I remember I didn't lost my smell and taste with covid but my aunt did and wasn't able to smell coffee for a year as she smelled it fishy. Did you had any significant changes on your taste on scents bc of covid? Which were the ones you liked the best during pandemic?

    My whole family has always been into fragrance. I remember Christmas mornings with Poison and birthdays with Aramis.

      A Christmas morning with Poison sounds already like a dream 😍 I haven't smelled nothing from Aramis tbh but I'm adding it to my list! For me Chanel no. 5 and 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden is a synonym of events in my family. tell me more about your family, pls. Who's the most into fragrance? Which was your first?

      No. 5 was my mom at graduation. We all are. I remember waking up to Brut in the morning and while being driven to school (it was my dad's daily driver), he wore Jazz, Minotaur or Anteus for special occasions. Mom was Poison, Shalimar, No. 5, First Parfum. I remember I could always tell when my uncle was visiting from Italy because the house would be filled with a hearty laugh and Acqua di Parma. Or my when fashionable and business savvy aunt was visiting from England with her micro minis and leather bags and smelling of Caleche. She got me my first fragrance at 5 which was Gucci Pour Homme and the travel version which came in a brown, plastic, slender atomizer with the Gucci stripes on it. She's also the reason I fell in love with Dior Homme. She would always carry chocolate bars in the purse for me that would melt and that combined with the leather and her makeup were an instant scent memory that got triggered the first time I smelled Dior Homme and I've had a bottle ever since.

    Funnily enough my SOTD was the 1st ever fragrance I had, which I basically took from my Dad & that was around age 15 & I then bought Obsession for Men from Selfridges department store in London when I was around 16 at College. A 35 year interest, or some might say obsession

      That was pretty easy at college though as everyone else smelt musty like teenagers do lol. My collection is sitting around 100 full bottles. And another 50 or so minis/samples. I think my favourite probably changes a little like my fav film or album, but CDG 'Black' is up there. Olfactive studio 'Selfie' is another fav too

    I’ve always been obsessed with smells and identifying them. Good and bad (it comes in handy when you’re a nurse). I have a great memory, I’m an emotional being and I just always loved the connection of scents and memory long before i really had an understanding of it. My mum gardened and baked, so I loved flowers and the kitchen. And she always wore perfume. Then, when I was ten I spent a few months in USA away from family and met an amazing woman who wore Chanel No 5 Parfum and let me bring back her near empty bottle. So smelling things has been life long, but that was defo the start of the perfume obsession. In my late teens, early adulthood I had to have a different coloured perfume to match with the colour of my outfit. Perfumes defo took a back seat when I had kids and became a birthday/crimbo treat that I would wear continuously until the bottle was empty. For the last few years I’ve been back to what makes my brain happy.

      That's a beautiful story 🥹 gardening and baking are hobbies with such unique and cozy aromas I can just imagine how amazing your childhood smelled like 🤩 Hobbies are a great part of us, glad you came back to it! Which perfumes you had according to your outfits? How have you managed being a mom, a nurse and having this hobby! 🤩

    I started as a cook, my mom always taught me about baking and cooking, which then I complemented by working as a Barista and then opening my own coffee shop. I started getting deep into flavor combinations and that translated into aromas. Which I picked up really easily since my brother is also very deep into the fragrance hobby. So far I've been loving it but it can get quite expensive 😮‍💨

      Knowing how deep flavor and aroma are tied together blew my mind during the academy lessons! Which were your first purchases (besides Lacoste L. 12.12 👀) you had into the community? Are you into gourmands? And yesss, this hobby is Hella expensive 😭 but totally worth it

      One of the first that really caught my eye (or nose?) after deciding to get deeper into the hobby was Versace Dylan Blue, I loved the strong grapefruit opening and I still do, except I've kinda moved away from "blue" perfumes since I don't tend to like the dry-downs so much, I remember Prada Paradigme really caught my attention since it's got a strong geranium note that I absolutely love but it's a bit too linear, then the one that I thought, "oh this is designer-esque but complex enough to make it more interesting" was Dior Homme Sport 2021 but I didn't have the money so I got myself a full bottle of Dark Door Sport by Maison Alhambra which I finished in about 3 months 🤣🤣 I rushed through it, and it's a really good dupe actually, I didn't have any complaint other than maybe it didn't reach the same level of "cleanliness" but it was too close anyways, and for 17 USD it was such a good buy 🙂‍↕️

      Oh and sorry I didn't answer your question, I do like many gourmands, just not on myself, I don't feel like I connect to that type as much, I think the sweetest stuff I'm willing to use is something like 1 million lucky, which is what Ishq Al Shuyukh Silver is duping 🙌

    I got Pink Sugar, then Crybaby Perfume Milk, and it was all downhill from there hahaha❤️my moms wore perfume, but it didn't influence me very much. I'm no contact with them now. Perfumes didn't really become a thing for me till 2022/23

      I'll never forget the first and only time I got to smell cry baby, that creamy strawberry milk got tattooed on my brain 😍 did you try the re release? Which other perfumes you got and said THIS is for me?

    My grandmother grew up very, very poor - one of six kids in the early 1910’s. She met and eloped (!) with my grandfather when she was 16 (he was 18). My Pop-Pop was a good, kind, hardworking man. They finally were able to buy a home and move in together (yes, they each went home for a long time until they fessed up to their parents and could afford their own place 🩵). Along came my dad, and eventually I made my appearance. At a young age, I noticed that my grandmother only wore Chanel No 5. I asked her about it once, and she said she loved it, Marilyn Monroe wore it and she felt lucky to be able to afford it, too. She wore that fragrance, not only for the scent, but in gratitude to my Pop-pop and pride for her station in life. My mom wore perfume as a means of self-expression and wore whatever SHE wanted. I’m proud to say I am a hybrid of the two - I appreciate an emotional connection, but also wear fragrance sometimes just for myself.

      Thank you!! Strong women, indeed. My grandmother had her own checking account until the day she died. You go, Grandma!!! I love so many fragrances - those classics of the 70’s/80’s (Le Dix, L’Interdit, Chanel) powerhouses of the 90’s (Angel, Boucheron, Addict) freshie/trendy 00’s (Tommy Girl, Fantasy) - all of the musks, ouds, flowers…. I’m really all over the place!!! How about you?

Twinsies on that jajaja I'm guilty of being all over the place too 🥴 beautiful 80's (poison, opium) power fragrances, clean 90's (ck one, cool water) fragrances, clean gourmands 2000's (Fantasy, light blue), 2010's gourmands (LVEB, black opium, good girl) 🥹 I'll just like something and go for it
