It was a really fun experience making perfume from scratch. Essentially, you choose different notes and bases from the available raw materials, use your lab experience to decide the proportions yourself, and then customize the fragrance according to your preferences.
The price is quite reasonable, around $40–70 depending on the menu you choose. It’s also a fun group activity, and because of the location, it wasn’t too crowded when I went. You may even be able to walk in without a reservation.
Pros:
* The fun of creating your own unique fragrance * Knowledgeable and helpful staff * A relatively authentic perfume-making experience * Reasonable prices
Cons:
* The staff don’t seem to be very comfortable communicating in English * Limited selection of scents * There’s a time limit and staff may seem impatient if you take too long to decide * The instructions can sometimes be difficult to understand
Things to keep in mind:
* The scents need about a week to blend and develop properly. * Depending on where you live and how you store the perfume, it may evaporate relatively quickly.
