A little while ago I got a sample of Interlude Black Iris, and I’ll admit I didn’t like it at first. Now I can’t stop sniffing it.
So give me your favorite incense fragrances. I’m open to anything: dark and smoky, sweet, woody, resinous, straight-up church incense, whatever. I want to explore the note more.

Relique d'amour is a classic, although incense is just hanging around in the background. Malbrum has a ton of resinous perfumes (can't add them as their website has been down for ages) - Godspeed, Tigre Du Bengale, Wildfire, Here Comes the Son. La Liturgie des Heures is another classic. Guerlain has Encens Mythique, which is also incense heavy. Filippo Sorcinelli has a ton of explicitly churchy perfumes, you can't get more Catholic church than that. Chapel Factory is another brand that specialises in incense perfumes, also worth a sniff.

That would be a lot of fun. I wasn't a big fan of Avignon, albeit an excellent representation of a Catholic Church. A bit too heavy on the coca-cola/spoiled wine facets of myrrh. Kyoto is sublime - crystalline and ethereal incense with just a sprig of green.

I do think Avignon is an original benchmark for incense despite mixed feelings. Tauer’s incense line is superior, I love Incense Rose. It’s heavy on both notes lol.
