Why some materials cannot simply be scaled
Most perfume materials are either synthetic, which scales freely, or agricultural, which scales over a season or two. Lavender, rose and jasmine can all be planted in response to demand.
The problem cases share three properties.

Perfumery moved on, mostly to linalool from other sources and to synthetic production, which delivers the same molecule without the tree.
