Who has a favourite they barely ever wear?

For me, it would be Nasomatto Pardon. As much as I want to smell like this every single day, it simply doesn't work in temperatures much above 18°C. Living somewhere subtropical, we only get 2–3 months where temperatures are that low, and even then, only in the evenings.

I find that with extraits, and somehow especially with Nasomattos, simply spraying the wrist while chilling at home under the AC doesn't lead to the desired effect - they really require natural airflow and movement to fully bloom.

I'm aware that this isn't an awful problem to have. If anything, it makes those rare occasions when we reach for such scents even more special, creating stronger scent memories than we do with those easy-to-grab perfumes that get lots of use.

Who shares my experience, and what scent/s fall under this bracket for you?

    I barely wear many of my favourites. I think there's a couple of psychological tricks at play here, like wanting to preserve the bottle in fear of running out, treating them special thereby requiring an occasion to wear, etc...

      I think that's a fear many of us have, especially when it comes to our absolute favourites, or those which have been discontinued. When it dawned on me how 100ml equates to around 1100 sprays, it felt totally irrational to have that scarcity mindset. But alas, there's something romantic about keeping certain scents for certain occasions, I just wish those occasions rolled around more often!

    I barely wear my full bottles. I think I love chasing new scents too much for repeat wears... Anyway, the ones I love but rarely wear are Musc Ravageur, Lune Féline, Shalimar, and Amouage Material. They're not exactly easy everyday scents...

      We need more hours in the day for frequent perfume changes! I'm curious about Material - heard it's quite similar to Masque Milano Tango which is a love for me, also done by Cecile Zarokian.

      I have a decant of Tango and they're similar, for sure. I find Material a bit more animalic, but totally wearable. Tango is a true amber, through and through, as is Material, of course, but I feel like there's a bit more going on with Material.

    It is so hot and humid wear I live as well and I just can’t wear the heavier fragrances I enjoy.

      It's just not the same is it. I took a few of my favourites back to England last Christmas and they smelt so much better in the crisp 0⁰ air.

    I really love Hermes Rocabar, but it's really best suited for fall and early spring. Knowing that, I should use it more heavily during those times, but I tend to use a fragrance and then not come back to it for a week or two. I should probably make a more concerted effort to use fragrances I categorize like that during those times.

      You and me both. But then a massive sample haul arrives and we're once again distracted for a couple weeks.
