Has it ever happened to you that the same perfume smells different on different days? Not in a bad way, but more in the sense of different notes popping up randomly! Maybe is my nose, the weather or idk, but I'm interested on knowing wether is a common occurrence for anyone else

I have noticed this as well. I chalk it up to the weather and where I am in my cycle.

Yes this happens to me! For example I can only smell the lilac in Nosferatu on rainy days. Otherwise I find the petrichor note totally dominates the scent. I’ve also heard hormones can play a role

The petrichor in the air tones down the petrichor note within the perfume maybe? 👀 Or it could be the humidity? And yeah! I forgot how much hormones can affect how we perceive smells 😳 now I wonder if ppl that have other hormonal cycles do experience this as well!

Can be lots of factors: emotions, hormones, weather/seasons, if you've already smelled many scents that day. If possible I recommend people try a fragrance multiple times when they're unsure, try in different weather, different times of the day. I've definitely changed my mind in both directions

Oooh, tell me how you've changed mind in both ways pls! And yeah, all those factors you mention do play a part in smelling different a scent. Some days I do smell differently my perfumes but not in a bad way, more in a "wait... Why haven't I recognized this note so clearly before, but I do now I'm randomly sitting on the dentist office" 😂

I've tried quite a few, usually resinous or incense, where on first snif I have a strong yes/no immediate opinion, like with Parfum d'empire Musc Tonkin. They have a specific DNA that is in the base of all their scents. First snif I was like "brother eugh 🤧" then I tried it again a few days later, earlier in the day, and quite like it. Conversely, I wore Filthy Musk a couple times and loved it, couldn't get enough and was ready to pick it over Musc Ravageur, picked it up the other day and it was a little too filthy. So I'll wear the sample out.

Mood and weather are huge factors! Like how some perfumes turn cloying in intense heat or get to shine in winter

Oh, it has definitely happened to me! I find certain fragrances so confusing because one day I love them, the next I can't stand them. There are a few designers like that for me, Interlude Black Iris, Boss Bottled Absolu and a few MFKs. I think it's normal to have some variability due to weather, hormones and time of day but my mood and environment also make a huge difference.

It happens to me often actually! Yesterday I got woody notes from a fragrance I sprayed and today it's nothing but oud. I have many more examples as well. My theory is whether you put it on after a long day or freshly showered or anywhere in between. Skin changes a lot, and so can what your nose picks up depending on what you've been exposed to recently.

That's also a good answer! Skin chemistry also varies how does a scent develops. I do wonder if also allergens in the environment affect how we perceive smells!
