What note did you turn your nose up at or even roll your eyes at, but eventually enjoyed?

As a self confessed weird scent lover, I do have quite an open mind with notes / ingredients, but blood felt like it might be a step too far.

I'd tried some Blood Concept scents years back & they didn't work for me.

Then I smelt Bulls Blood. I love it. It works very well on my skin. Does that make me a sicko? Possibly, but I'm ok with that.

    Patchouli. Couldn't stand it. Jovoy Psychédélique smelt horrendous to me - an old, forgotten basement with damp dripping from the ceiling and mould growing up the walls. It's now in my top 10 of all time, and patchouli-dominant perfumes are something I actively search for.

      I like to think of my top 3 as a Cerberus of chocolate patchouli. Psychédélique, the fiercest of the three, reigning supreme over the ambered realm. Nasomatto Pardon, the more noble head, championing dark chocolate. Xerjoff Richwood, the most approachable of the three, making white chocolate smell drop-dead gorgeous.

    Patchouli. I love the word, but turns out pure patchouli grosses me out. I love it as a heart note though

      Looks like Patchouli is a big one. Do you think that's a bit to do with the over bearing hippie shop patchouli?

      I personally don’t think so, hippie shops in my area smell more like whatever novenas they’re burning (all types, all kinds) so there’s no causation I can locate in my case

    I agree with you on Bull’s Blood. I’m not one for animalics, but this one I enjoy quite a bit. I still want to find the first edition version, but the current one is beautiful.

      I sampled the original version years back & just passed it off & looped back around eventually & then loved it. Weird how that can happen

    I also hate pure patchouli, but don’t much mind it as a minor note. I also never believed I would like tobacco notes, but Le Labo made me change my mind.

    Lavender. I don’t like when it smells herbal or medicinal, but in other ways it’s great

      I didn't think I liked it, until I took a trip to a lavender field not long after COVID & they sold their old lavender perfume & it totally changed my mind. What scents do you like it in?

      Sleepy Body Spray by Lush makes it a warmer scent with tonka bean! I wanna explore more and I would love to go to a farm!

    I used to think I hated vanilla, because I associated it with air fresheners, cheap candles, and sugary-sweet gourmands. Now I know I love it when it’s not in baked-goods form; I have multiple woody, musky, spicy, and/or fresh vanillas.
