Akhetaten · Parfum Prissana
This is an absolute Masterpiece, a well-thought-out and blended story made into a mystical scent, remembering the times when the pharaoh Akhenaten was there. The story is deep and complex, but going
Global Warning
Overture Man · Amouage
Overture is one of the most peculiar scents that represents Cumin, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Saffron and Ginger in the most clean and well-blended and presented way, is virtually impossible to do better

Lustre · Amouage
Lustre is pure Sandalwood, Spicy, creamy & Silky, a state-of-the-art sculpture made of Beige marble. Igor, in the article you found up there, described it perfectly. This is a scent that acts as a

Le Lion · Chanel
We are at the Final Boss of all dark Incense-Amber scents. Le Lion is a shocking composition, shocking because is able to take everything you know about fragrances and throw them out of the window
AgileMastodon
Miami Nectar · Ellis Brooklyn
I love coconut but not when it takes over everything. This is so beautifully balanced! It’s fruity and sweet like a tropical cocktail, but softly floral and woody, like sitting on a lanai overlooking
Lasey Korso
Le Beau Paradise Garden · Jean Paul Gaultier
COCKTAIL IN A BOTTTLE!!!! This smells like an expensive cocktail you bought in the Seychelles. On first spray you are met with such nice green watery airy and slightly minty freshness mixed with

Woman in Gold · Kilian
flowery masterpiece that on the skin turns out to be a super clean and almost talcated aldehydic. It smells like bubble bath, bubbles, soap, talc powder… it's exactly my thing! It is extremely clean

Tam Dao Eau de Parfum · Diptyque
This is the perfume I wear when I need grounding, when I’m fraying at the ends and want to feel centered. I spray this…breathe deep…and let Tam Dao soothe me. The sandalwood here does not pull pickle

Lavender Extreme · Tom Ford
I mean, it’s called lavender extreme and that name is apt. The lavender in this is full bodied and loud. It does soften as it dries down but the lavender does seem “twangy” as some lavender can. Not

Endymion Concentré · Penhaligon's
this scent reminds me of chowards violet candy. subtle rock candy sweetness, but powdery. thin bitter black coffee overlay that makes the sugar smell just slightly burnt. all pulled together by soft

Santal Austral · Matière Première
I think Matiere Premiere’s overriding dna is something I don’t mesh with. They use an enormous amount of Ambroxan (or the fixative ambrofix or the like) and I’m sensitive to it when it’s at a

Iris Shot · Olfactive Studio
Iris Shot smells nothing like any of my (many) iris perfumes. It’s edgier without trying hard. It’s cool. It’s unique. It opens with cardamom and pink pepper set atop aldehydes. It gives the scent

Buongiorno · Acqua di Parma
Fresh and herbaceous. I detect little no citrus in here. It’s all herbs and a small amount of musk. I don’t smell the similarity to Torino 21 that people often describe—this is less minty, or uses a

Montabaco · Ormonde Jayne
I've been spending some time with Montabaco Intensivo lately and I understand why it is such a highly regarded fragrance. What stands out to me is how it manages to be a tobacco fragrance without

I Don’t Know What · D.S. & Durga
I Don’t Know What is less of a traditional perfume and more of a very clever skin scent and scent booster. On its own, it has that woody, musky glow, with a soft bergamot lift at the top and an amber
Old Leaves
Iris de Gris · L'Artisan Parfumeur
Wearing this is like cleaning snap peas in a garden with crushed mint staining your fingers. Purple iris have overgrown the flowerbeds, the fragrance swirling together with the peas and mint. It
Old Leaves
Petit Gâteau · Odette Parfum Co.
The bottled scent of walking into a French bakery to be engulfed by warm, dense, freshly baked cake. You’ll smell deliciously edible for several hours and eventually be forced to find a slice of cake
Old Leaves
Nosferatu · Heretic Parfum
A rainy day—water dripping from purple lilac bushes and a freshly dug grave—in a bottle. It’s a beautiful fresh floral supported by damp earth. The kind of dampness experienced on a drizzly spring
Old Leaves
Flowerbomb Tiger Lily · Viktor & Rolf
This is a botanical greenhouse overflowing with hot pink and crimson lilies, and I love it. Carefully cultivated tropical flowers fill your senses with familiar layers beneath—blended too well to
Maya!
Mojave Ghost · Byredo
Byredo rarely disappoints me, and Mojave Ghost is no exception. This scent is clean, fresh, a little woody, a little green, and just so lovely. It’s safe for any season, any weather, and any

Violet Ida · Miller Harris
Why are all the “good ones” yanked from the market before their time? Violet Ida came and went before the resurgence of powdery iris perfumes and could have—if it hung around a wee bit longer—enjoyed

Endymion Concentré · Penhaligon's
Penhaligon’s Endymion Concentrée (2016) is one of the few fragrances that genuinely feels composed rather than simply “marketed.” It smells like confidence without performance. No screaming

Mousse Illuminée Grand Cru · Rogue Perfumery
I finally got my nose on Mousse Illuminée Grand Cru and I have to say, this is one of the most quietly impressive natural fragrances I’ve smelled in a long time. Not “impressive” in the loud modern
