Guerlain fans: what be your thoughts? Who's had chance to try the new samples yet? I'm pretty excited as it was one of Les Légendaires I had marked for FB (and I've got a beautiful print of a bottle too!).

I ended up getting it lol, as a Guerlain, Iris and Vanilla fan I’ll probably like it. It’ll be here in like 2 weeks so I’m excited!

Literally just pressed buy on my fave size: 30ml! Like you, there's no note there that I don't like, and I particularly love iris and solar so fingers crossed for us!

I've seen several reviews on it. They're all saying it has nothing in common with the OG, and while lovely, is a bit unremarkable. I'm a Guerlain ho, but I'm not particularly tempted by this unfortunately. Even the 2 new Shalimar flankers seemed more interesting; I did buy those.

L'essence and Millésime Rose. Both are beautiful. I'm not usually a fan of rose, but this is so smooth. More of a rosy vanilla with the Shalimar DNA. L'essence is just a wonderful vanilla, smells very luxe (and it is). I have a few other Shalimar flankers and these are definitely different enough to keep. Plus the Shalimar bottles are just stunning.

Ahah yes! I thought there had been two even newer ones that had somehow snuck past me! I have Millesime Rose and will be getting a decant of L'essence at some point 🤗

I do kinda wish they called it something different, if it’s a different scent? Like Shalimar vs Shalimar L’essence. Will be interesting to see how different of a scent profile it is.

Totally! Feels that's what they have aimed for with the similar-to-L'Essence font even! It's an interesting approach to one of the Guerlain greats that many hold in the highest esteem, but maybe this would open it up to a new audience? I wonder if this is the start of a new era of flankers for LHB to give some more accessible options for younger generations who'd otherwise eschew this type of scent profile (*like the Millesime limited editions, Souffle, L'essence etc)?

I totally agree. And I’m excited for it. But yeah, if they had’ve called it L’Heure Bleue Deux it would’ve made me happier, but who am I lol… and I’ll get over myself. From the notes, it looks like something I’ll like.. and I’m thinking that it might be a feminine leaning Blue Talisman with the neroli, pear and ambroxan. But yeah, marshmallow and vanilla? I think it will definitely keep a younger audience happy. I really like the bottle .. and knowing me, like you being a Guerlain fan, it will be a FB.
